Vacuum Instruments Corporation Teams Up With Long Island Cares - Food Drive Kick off Oct.15, 2020!
Approximately 182,000 people will go hungry on Long Island tonight - and 72,980 of those will be children...
39 percent of Long Islanders who receive emergency food are children under 18 years old. While children are among the largest single population of hungry, they have virtually no voice; their needs are easily dismissed and overlooked, and they must rely on others to access the feeding programs and services they need.
Donating food is one of the simplest ways to make a difference in our community.
Food banks are the single most important source of food for agencies with emergency food providers, accounting for 69% of the food distributed by pantries, 39% of the food distributed by kitchens and 45% of the food distributed by shelters.
Our food collection bins will be set up at our Corporate Headquarters until November 20, 2020.
Together we can help feed the hungry.
